This world is the same as ours, with supernatural beings existing alongside us, without our knowledge.

Witches control magic with written or spoken words, each witch having one or two – or the very rare three – specialties in which they are strongest. The most powerful witches are category ten, and those with just a smidge of magic are category one, with every witch falling somewhere on the scale.

Vampires survive on blood, sleep while the sun is up, live obscenely long, and have the strength and speed to rival the most impressive nonsupernatural. When they really want to move fast, though, they can shift between shadows, teleporting from one to another almost instantaneously.

Shifters are people who have particularly-sensitive senses, which makes sense when you consider that their bodies can shift into an animal at will. That’s a lot of “sense” in one sentence.

Fae live in an alternate world, and though people know there are some that wander the earth, they are few and far between, and there’s really no way to identify them.

Gods and goddesses exist as well, though there aren’t many of them. They have more power than any witch could hope to have, and they only die if killed a very specific way. Even then, it is possible for another god or goddess to bring them back.

So many other supernatural people – and creatures – are out there as well, but listing them all would be tedious.
